Nigeria Can't Get Things Right Until It Respects Elders - Iloh

A Christian cleric and elder statesman, Moses Iloh, on Thursday said the Federal Government was in total confusion on how to address the myriad of problems confronting the nation because it has failed to accord elders the respect they deserve.

The 85-year-old Iloh made the remark at the 2014 World Elders' Day Celebration organised by the Family Ark Mission in conjunction with Mercy of God foundation and Ajeromi- Ifelodun Local Government.

While lamenting the agony and pains elderly ones are made to go through in the society, especially in the areas of health and pension, Iloh said the Federal Government will not get things right until such issues are addressed.

"We are treating the elderly ones with disdain. And that is why the Federal Government is in confusion. Until they respect the elders, they will never be a government to be reckoned with. The elders are being humiliated.

"They are being made to beg. Young boys just because they have money and in position of authority will make elders queue. When they queue to beg you to give them something, when you grow up, you will crawl," he said.
